The Jr. Systems Administrator provides internal support to the company worldwide, and assists with front line support to our clients for our comprehensive internet security solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting their team with 24/7 support of operations duties in a fast-paced environment. The Jr. Systems Administrator will be assigned a variety of systems monitoring events and requests with the expectation that they will be able to analyze, troubleshoot, and make accurate judgement calls as to the classification and severity of the event. The successful Jr. Systems Administrator will be able to communicate, provide deeper investigation, under general supervision of the Manager, Internal Support & Deployments.

The Jr. Systems Administrator must have experience supporting enterprise environments. They may be required to travel to Data Centers in other regions and abroad. They must show a keen attention to detail and be able to work within the proper policies and procedures as required by the Data Centers. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

As Jr. Systems Administrator the candidate must demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with the members of the Deployment Team. It is the responsibility of the Jr. Systems Administrator to build and configure eSentire flagship products for use at client sites. As well as participate in client on boarding and troubleshooting calls. They must have a good understanding of Linux systems and be able to absorb new technologies specific to eSentire at a fast pace. The Jr. Systems Administrator is expected to share in the responsibilities and deliverables of the Deployment Team.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes client networks and make recommendations for integration with our service.
  • Maintains documentation of all supported systems
  • Provides on-call support on a rotating basis as required
  • Install new or reconfigure existing services and systems
  • Test and install issued patches in conjunction with software providers and vendors or other third parties.
  • Develop and maintain expertise through professional associations and professional development opportunities.
  • Advise management of new applications or potential system enhancements in support of future requirements.
  • Provides management with feedback to improve processes and procedures
  • Meets SLA’s and KPI’s
  • Act as a technical resource during other projects as required.
  • Actively review and resolve tickets assigned to the Systems Team.

Requirements:

  • Have a minimum of 3 years of Systems administration experience
  • Have 2+ years of experience designing and troubleshooting complex distributed systems
  • Network Administration skills an asset
  • Bachelor’s degree, college diploma or equivalent experience
  • Assist clients with implementation and configuration of our services within their environments
  • Prioritizing incoming requests to ensure the timely completion of critical tasks and the escalation of time-sensitive issues
  • Able to set an example for sharing best practices with team members to enhance the quality of support
  • Be interpersonal, open to direction and collaborative work styles
  • Demonstrates a keen attention to detail and a commitment to quality of service
  • Must be able to support a 24/7/365 environment, flexible and able to work outside regular business hours as required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work on multiple projects at any one period of time

Desired Skills:

  • Have a College and or University Degree in Computer Science, Systems Administration or related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with various flavours of Linux Systems (Debian, Ubuntu, RHEL, CentOS)
  • Committed to providing exceptional customer service.
  • Strong aptitude for solving problems independently.
  • Familiar with technologies to provide automation
  • WebUI Development
  • Ability to work under pressure and with conflicting priorities.
