Why Bonfire?

At Bonfire, we bring people together to make decisions with certainty. What does that mean? We’re powering billions of dollars worth of decision making across 200+ customers.

You’ve probably never heard of us before - and that’s okay - but remember when you had the opportunity to see your favourite band at a small venue before they were selling out the ACC? Joining Bonfire now is like getting on the guest list.

We’re a VC-Backed, Y-Combinator success story that customers love (99% adoption) and we’ve already impacted $12B+ in procurement spending decisions.

Bonfire is an opportunity for you to make an impact and accelerate your career. We’re in a unique position, growing from 40 to over 100 people in the next year. We’re looking for team members who will:

  • Make an impact
  • Drive results
  • Remain humble - no job is too small

The Role

We’re looking for an Automation Developer to join Gareth Davis our DevOps Lead as the first set of boots on the ground on our growing DevOps team at Bonfire. As a programmer who enjoys a broad spectrum of responsibilities from automation, security, IT, and scripting, you'll be consistently solving interesting problems and delivering results.

You’ll be at the core of our team, providing the essential tools and services ensuring not only that our Developers can do their job, but everyone at the company. Providing infrastructure and systems to equip the company to run, monitoring production infrastructure, testing and deploying changing infrastructure and provisioning employee accounts will all fall under your responsibilities.

As an Automation Developer you will take ownership over the backlog of automation tasks, and drive them to completion. If doing the same thing everyday sounds boring, and you’re looking for variety with vast responsibilities, this is the role for you. We're looking for a team player that is willing to jump in and help out where needed and make Bonfire more efficient through driving automation practices. We’re confident that you’ll learn more here in 1 year than you would in 3 somewhere else. This is a great opportunity to become a generalist and get exposure to many different tools and languages, you will also be able to specialize in the future as the team grows.

What You’ll Do

  • Automate: using your programming skills with scripting languages such as Python to automate routine tasks to drive efficiently.
  • Security: play an active role in the management and development of our security programs.
  • Backlog: ownership over the backlog of automation tasks, prioritizing and driving to completion.
  • Problem Solving: use your ability to breakdown problems and seek out resources to deliver solutions.
  • IT: be available to the broader team to solve IT issues from software to device problems.

Who You Are

  • Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering degree or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years working with web technologies.
  • Experience with Bash or Python or similar scripting
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • You shouldn’t have to be told what to do next, you just do it.
  • A comfort level with working on multiple projects at once.
  • Experience in our current application stack (PHP, Python, MySQL, AngularJS, NodeJS).

Bonus Points

  • Familiarity with our DevOps stack; Ansible, AWS and Vagrant
  • Exposure to web security
